The two Santa Carvings are early carvings made of basswood and painted with acrlyics, a pine quilt rack, one kaleidoscope made of ebony and the narwhal whale is a piece of wormy butternut, carved in one piece.  The tusk is a piece of white tailed deer antler as is the post that attaches it to the caribou antler base.

Working Decoys

Carving lifesize duck decoys made of high density cork, basswood heads and quality glass eyes, Michael carefully paints them with artist arcrylics. Hardwood keels are then weighted and attached so that each decoy self right in the water. They are as much at home floating in your rig to hunt over as they are sitting on your coffee table.

Mallard drake working decoy bartered for a wood lathe. Sold

At the present time Michael is completing a Mallard Drake, two Black Duck and two Mallard Hens to complete a commission of six hunting decoys.

This is a little red breasted nuthatch carved from tupelo, painted in acrylics on an oak base which is painted black. Gift to my sister Cindy.

The blue jay is my first jay carved using Tupelo wood and painted with acrylics. It is life size. Bartered.

This life size artic tern is a smoothie. It has no texture. It is carved with basswood and painted with acrylics. The painting was done on an extremely cold day with 3 feet of snow outside. The workshops wood stove had a hard time producing enough heat. At 50 degrees Farenheit I had a really long time to blend the colours. That was the only nice part about painting it other than I was taking a class with a good friend who was the instructor. Bartered.

This loon carving is one of many that I've carved. It is about 8 inches long, textured and painted with acrylics. Sold.

Turned Exotic Wood & Antler Pens

The black ebony pen, has a brushed satin finish to it which compliments the wood well.

This slim line pen is made of Amboyna Burl from the Nara Tree in the East Indies. The finish is 24 karet gold.

Made March 4, 2009 this Mont Blanc pen is turned from a dropped whitetail deer antler. It was used to barter for wooden burls, ancient wood from North of the Arctic Circle, mostly black spruce and some yellow birch, along with some pieces of shed caribou antler. This pen usually sells for $45.00 Canadian. Bartered.

The following three Mont Blanc pens, with a 24 karat gold finish are made from Manitoba Maple given to Michael by Bob Lavender of Saskatoon. A gift to a friend, two sold.

Immediately below is a pen turned from a shed whitetail deer antler. Each winter deer shed there antlers which can be found in the spring on the wintering yards used by deer.

The next pen is made from Bloodwood, a South American hardwood. The finish is Satin. Sold
