Working Decoys

Carving lifesize duck decoys made of high density cork, basswood heads and quality glass eyes, Michael carefully paints them with artist arcrylics. Hardwood keels are then weighted and attached so that each decoy self right in the water. They are as much at home floating in your rig to hunt over as they are sitting on your coffee table.

Mallard drake working decoy bartered for a wood lathe. Sold

At the present time Michael is completing a Mallard Drake, two Black Duck and two Mallard Hens to complete a commission of six hunting decoys.

This is a little red breasted nuthatch carved from tupelo, painted in acrylics on an oak base which is painted black. Gift to my sister Cindy.

The blue jay is my first jay carved using Tupelo wood and painted with acrylics. It is life size. Bartered.

This life size artic tern is a smoothie. It has no texture. It is carved with basswood and painted with acrylics. The painting was done on an extremely cold day with 3 feet of snow outside. The workshops wood stove had a hard time producing enough heat. At 50 degrees Farenheit I had a really long time to blend the colours. That was the only nice part about painting it other than I was taking a class with a good friend who was the instructor. Bartered.

This loon carving is one of many that I've carved. It is about 8 inches long, textured and painted with acrylics. Sold.
